The steam in my Philips steam generator iron gets weaker

There is a steam delay when pressing the steam button

A short delay is normal:

  • Press and release the steam button: generates steam after 2 seconds
  • Press and hold the steam button: produces steam at a continuously high level You will hear a pumping sound that indicates that water is being pumped into the heating element to generate steam.
  • Press the steam button twice quickly: switches the iron to auto steam. Press the steam button again to stop steaming.

A few seconds' delay is normal

When the appliance draws water from the tank, the cool water lowers the steam pressure for a few seconds. This is normal behaviour for any steam generator iron.

If the issue persists for more than a few seconds, please descale the appliance. Find all descaling information for your Philips iron here.

ECO mode is activated

If you are using ECO mode (the green light is on), the steam will be weaker.

For more steam, switch off ECO mode by pressing the ECO button. The green ECO light will go off.

There is a problem with the steam function

If your iron is having other steam-related issues, there may be a problem with the steam function.
In this case, we recommend that you contact Philips Consumer Care and ask for a repair.
