Do I need a special Philips antenna to receive digital terrestrial TV broadcastings? And what kind of antenna should I use?

Published on 2019-09-10

Digital terrestrial television uses normal antenna technique. Depending on the state of your antenna and local circumstances you do not need a special antenna installation.

When you connect an antenna, please pay attention to the following:

  • Several transmitters simultaneously send the same signal over the same frequency channel; a more directional sensitive antenna is preferred
  • Gitter antenna's are less powerful and therefore the signal that they transmit may be weaker
  • The use of a non-directional antenna could result in a bad reception, because of the interference from other antennas in its vicinity
  • Gitter-antennas are also marketed as digital antennas
