Wireless home speaker

I added 2 of these to the B8805/10 soundbar and as long as you long press the "off" button on the soundbar remote, to put them into eco standby, they wake back up with soundbar when i turn the telly on. I've been really impressed with my relatively inexpensive sound system.

I'm using this in our RV as a soundbar for the TV while underway (fits in perfect spot). Massive improvement over the TV speakers obviously, sounds good and has enough volume. Slightly distorted at higher volumes, some clipping, and in some cases over aggressive bass. None of this would be noticeable to the average person most of the time. Other similar speakers have the same problems with and can be far more exaggerated. I'm happy with it.

Ambilight gets out of sync or drops out completely. It will not work with your Ambilight setup. You can have either the Ambilight or the speakers (which drops out of sync even while hugging the wifi 6 in both 2.4 and 5 ghz modes). I got 4 of them and have a decent surround sound while watching any app from my Philips the one. But if you want to connect it to a pc and play games you will have an annoying amount of delay. No matter what you do it will not go away. You cannot set these on a pc as surround as far as I could try. I even paid a whopping 20 bucks to the play fi app on pc but it does not support surround sound in video mode or any mode. When you have it set as a home theatre setup the tv plays fine but the pc never gets rid of the audio delay. 1st I thought it was the CPU on the TV but the audio delay is basically nonexistent in tv speakers mode so the issue is the tv delaying the audio to the dts play-fi home theatre setup. Just buy something else. I am trying to get rid of mine.

I can’t begin to explain how underhand it is from Philips to launch a product that simply refuses to do what is says in the tin , that is to connect to a really expensive ambilight OLED Philips tv. Ive sat and looked at these speakers on the wall for over a year and have never had a sound out of them. The app is virtually useless, they won’t connect, I’ve tried hundreds of times and it’s about time Philips recalled every one and refunded everyone for this 100% failed product.there isn’t a single positive thing to say

These speakers in theory would have been incredible, but like most things that sound too good to be true is the same case here. I purchased a pair of these to complete a surround sound setup with a Philips TV and a Philips Soundbar (both of which are fully compatible). They continuously dropped out of sync, that's when they did decide to connect in the first place and at no point did they ever work as surround sound. The customer service is near on a joke and you're treated like you only have a couple of brain cells to rub together. After spending more than 15hrs on phone calls and over emails to get these speakers working it simply isn't worth the trouble. The app is incredibly dated and isn't user friendly at all. After updating everything in the Philips eco system as well as restarting and reformating (TV, Router, Speakers, etc) they would still not work. The hardware of the products would have been great if they would work but there is a serious lack of attention to the software side so they simply don't connect or when they do fall out of sync. I was aware of some of these issues beforehand with other reviews stating it but thought it may be user error or a bad batch. If there is one thing you take away from this, don't buy these if you want to have surround sound and if you're looking for a decent wifi speaker there are plenty of other options at this price point and below that are far superior in quality. Avoid!

Very peaky bass sound. Did some tests with a class 1 sound meter in Z mode (linear, no weighting, results from third-octave Leq1sec levels) in a large living room with lots of soft furnishings as absorbers. Microphone in near field of the speaker, 70 cm away. Fairly flat response from 160 Hz up to at least 16 kHz. But at 120 Hz 12 to 15 dB peak above the average output at other frequencies. Hazarding a guess, I would say that it is by design, to dazzle uncritical listeners into thinking "wow, great bass!" Although all speakers with passive ports have a peak just above the low cutoff frequency, this peak can normally be tweaked to an acceptable level in the DSP. An additional tech detail about the test: the source was a constant amplitude slow sweep generated in Audacity and saved as 16-bit 48kHz wav file on a media server. The Philips app then played the media server file at relatively high level - 85 dBZ - on the speaker. The output level was chosen as a compromise between a high S/N ratio in the near field and acceptable THD on the speaker. Note that I wrote to Philips support about this issue three weeks ago but have not yet received a response.

This has got to be one of the worst speakers to setup. The speaker sounds good and is loud enough if you can get it to work. The bluetooth connection works with little hassle. But getting it to work through WiFi using the Play-Fi software is worse than pulling teeth. The initial setup was straigh forward enough but mine disconnected from my WiFi network after a few weeks and I have not being able to get it to connect back. I have had the same issue on two of the Philips W6205 I have purchased so far through Amazon. The setup light is blinking slowly which indicates that the device is in setup mode and should be discovered for setup through the Play-Fi app but that does not happen. I keep getting an error that no device was discovered when I Search For Devices. I reset the speaker numerous times and try a few Play-Fi branded apps with no luck. For now, I have a speaker that I am unable to use, so it is completely useless to me. I have been unable to get any help from the manufacturer, Philips, either.

The speaker is suppose to turn off after a period of time with no activity. It stays on for hours, and no off on switch. I put in 4 trouble tickets, and only get automated reply that they will get back to be in 24 to 48 hours. Called 4 times, get shuffled around, or after on hold for 10 minutes, get disconnected
