Portable DVD Player

With a huge amount of portable DVD players on the market, a lot of research is necessary to ensure that the unit you purchase meets your needs. I needed a good quality unit which would play various formats, have a good-looking large screen, have very good battery life & be able to be used in a car on occasion. With all these in mind, the Philips PD9000 met the requirements perfectly. The unit is solid, has a fantastic screen and battery and comes with all the accessories needed to easily connect it in a car, or even to a larger TV/Monitor. There are cheaper alternatives available that come without some of the features of the PD9000 - but once you add up the purchase of all the accessories needed to match the PD9000, you've spent more money than would have spent on the PD9000 In monetary terms, it isn't a 'bargain' - but it is a quality unit and meets my needs better than any other. In performance terms, it is excellent & I would recommend it to anyone else with similar requirements without hesitation.

I use my portable DVD player frequently. I am quite happy with it. The battery is sufficient for the programmes I watch (1-2 hrs. duration). The picture is good, the sound is okay. One thing that irritates me is the big green light facing the viewer when the DVD is "On" (Why position it there and Why so big?). I have to cover it because it detracts from viewing the screen. Also the On-Off button is a bit flimsy.

I had no issues with this product. I loved it then and I love it now. Very good DVD player. Now I'm giving it to my grandson.

I have really enjoyed using this product. The only downside is that it is not a multi regional DVD player. It is user family, have a wonderful picture and the sound quality is clear and crisp. I am glad that I have this for when I travel and have nothing to watch in the hotel.

I am quite familiar with Philips prducts as I lived in Europe for many years. This portable DVD player meets all expectations. You may be interested in one observation I have,which is that some of my PAL region DVDs do not play. This may be a problem with the DVD rather than any shortcoming of the player. As I also have a regular Philips DVD player which plays NTSC and Pal regions this is not a major problem to me.
