Portable Radio

Really like this radio. Except I am also on my third power supply cord/ transformer. Unfortunately havent kept my receipt so having to keep buying new transformer. And agree with other comments that the batteries dont last long. I like to have the radio on continuously. Again love the radio but the power source is costing me too much.

I have owned the AE 5230 and as a radio I have found it performs well, but as one who is visually impaired, I find it difficult to set channels, That is however , not my main concern. I a, now at the stage of having to replace the 240V power transformer for the THIRD time. The unit is used for 95% of the time on a bedside table so disconnection of the power lead is minimal. Fortunately Dick Smith has replaced the whole unit twice. Now it has to go back again !!

This unit is very nice, but for the price it lacks in a lot of areas. It goes through batteries like there is no tomorrow and has very poor quality volume. Sound is clear but it is hard to hear in an office environment. Cheaper brands lack the build quality of this but beat it by a mile when it comes to volume. If you want quality then buy it, if you want sound then don't.

I have had no problems with this radio. I use it at my office on AC power, the only downside is if you wish to use it on batteries, you require 6 of them. Nice clear sound, the reception is good. I'm completely happy with this product.
