I do not understand the lights on my Breast Pump

Published on 2021-05-04

If you do not understand the meaning of the lights on your Philips Avent Electric Breast Pump, please read the below guidance.

The lights on your pump indicate two things: The mode that the pump is in and the suction level.

The Philips Avent Electric Breast Pump has two modes, which emulate how your baby drinks.

·         Stimulation: mode to stimulate the breast to start the milk flow. The breast pump starts in this mode.

·         Expression: mode for efficient milk removal after milk has started flowing. The breast pump automatically switches to this mode after 90 seconds.

The mode is indicated with the following light patterns in the indicator lights:

When the suction level changes, the display shows the selected suction level for a few seconds and then shows the selected mode again.

To make the breast pump more comfortable and effective, stimulation mode has 8 suction levels and expression mode has 16 different levels (please see the picture below). Using the arrow keys, you can increase and decrease to find the best level for you.

To make the transitions comfortable, the pump increases the suction levels slowly when it starts up and when it switches between modes.
